Nintendo is calling it a “third platform,” which means it will co-exist with the current DS Lite, and will not replace it. The device features a 3.25-inch dual touchscreen displays, 256 x 192 screen resolution, Wifi, internet browser, 2 cameras – one with 3 megapixels resolution, SD slot, internal memory storage and an on-line shop (ala PS store). There’s not much change aesthetically aside from placing the power button inside near the bottom screen. They also changed the look of the speaker and placed the light indicators on the left side. Its 12 percent thinner than DS Lite and it comes in white or black finishes. Whooah, a new portable multimedia gaming system is born.
Nintendo’s also launching an online “DSi Shop,” which will sell content directly over WiFi, it will include a free browser app and “DS Ware” games. The DSi will cost from £149.99 when it launches in UK on April 3rd.
