Blaupunkt’s TravelPilot 700 and 500 with video navigation
Aug 30th, 2008 | By Cha | 1 year, 192 days ago | Category: Gadgets, Navigation, Tech Buzz, TechnologyBlaupunkt’s Travel Pilot nav units were never really as popular as Tomtom or Garmin but now things are about to change via their new TravelPilot 700 and 500. It features an integrated camera that displays realtime video with nav overlays on the 16:9 screens. The video camera is on its back facing the windshield which captures live footage of the road just ahead of you. And then navigation prompts are superimposed on to this video feed. Other innovative features include the ability to recognize traffic signs, voice recognition, Wifi, internet, TV on the road via DVB-T receiver, live traffic information, and bluetooth.
It looks like Blaupunkt is really raising the bar when it comes to GPS navigation systems. They are expected to cost about €400-500 and will be available next month. You must check the video after the break.
